چکیده

In this paper, we first survey some emerging technologies which are related to mathematics and computing, especially to mathematical communication via computer networks. Before mathematics can be used ‘interactively’ on the World Wide Web, there are a number of obstacles that would need to be removed and we try to identify these. In particular we concentrate on style sheets for mathematics.

Visual Languages: A Matter of Style

This articles submits the thesis that visual data modeling and programming languages are conveniently conceived as rendering, or ‘styling’, of conventional, textual languages. Styling has become a widespread technique with the advent of the Web and of the markup language XML. With XML, application data can be modeled after the application logic regardless of the intended rendering. Rendering of...

Adaptive Hypermedia made simple using HTML/XML Style Sheet Selectors

A simple extension is proposed for enhancing HTML and XML with adaptation. It consists in using the path selectors of style sheet languages such as CSS and XSLT for expressing content and navigation adaptation. The needed extensions to a path selector language are minimal, a few additional constructs suffice. The processor of the language can be kept almost unchanged, no new algorithms are need...

Adaptive Hypermedia Made Simple with HTML/XML Style Sheet Selectors

This paper addresses enhancing HTML and XML with adaptation functionalities. The approach consists in using the path selectors of the HTML and XML style sheet languages CSS and XSLT for expressing content and navigation adaptation. Thus, the necessary extensions of the selector languages are minimal (a few additional constructs suffice), the processors of these languages can be kept almost unch...

Xprez: A Declarative Presentation Language for XML

Proxima is a generic presentation-oriented XML editor with support for derived values appearing in the documents. Xprez is the presentation language for the Proxima editor. It is a declarative domainspecific language for specifying presentations, in which it is easy to specify simple presentations, but in which more advanced presentations can also be specified. Presentations are first-class val...

Modeling Web Applications Using Java and XML Related Technologies

The purpose of this paper is to propose visual models for a web application using Java and XML related technologies. We consider a web application that uses 3tier architecture and each tier is distributed onto web, application, and data base servers. In the web applications, various Java and XML related technologies are employed in the form of different languages: clientside script language, se...
